Here comes the first scandal! Liberté, the third act of the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, combined two very Parisian activities: overthrowing tyrants, and falling in love. Also, a secret title!
Monsieur le Comte, thank you! I really appreciate your generosity here. Now I would like to watch that ceremony again. I loved it at the time but only picked up a few of the references. (How I respect the French and their perseverance in getting rid of the monarchy! I only recently understood just how many back-and-forths of overthrows and restorations it had taken. We British didn’t try hard enough.)
I finally got to read this! Such beautiful appreciation for this genius work of art. Such a labor of love for you also, and a generous gift to all who watched the ceremony in awe, but also (for much of the time) with a delightful mixture of confusion and curiosity. Thank you for explaining the background, context, and complexity of this great work of art. Merci!
You did such an amazing work here! I'm loving this series, bravo!
Thank you so much! Understanding history and culture is so important! Otherwise how can we understand the people or the county.
Your 3 part commentary is an excellent introduction to - how to better understand France beyond the cliché.
Welcome to MyFrenchLife Magazine. This is what we strive to do each day!!!!
Bienvenue !

Thank you! I think the official Olympic feed, i.e. without local country commentary, can still be watched here. And as it’s a replay, you get to skip to the parts you want 😊: https://www.olympics.com/en/video/opening-ceremony-olympic-games-paris-2024
